Sample BallotThe Board of Elections Supervisors administers the elections of the Mayor and City Councilmembers, working in conjunction with the Prince George's County Board of Election Supervisors. This includes voter registration, nomination petition certification, ballot preparation and legal advertisements.

When Are City Elections Held?

There is a General Election for the City of Laurel every two years. The Mayor serves a four (4) year term and the Council serves a two (2) year term.

How Do I Register To Vote?

Qualified residents of the City may register to vote at the Laurel Municipal Center , 8103 Sandy Spring Road, Laurel, MD. Registrations are accepted on Monday through Friday from 9:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M.

The Greater Laurel Area encompasses four counties: Anne Arundel, Howard, Prince George's and Montgomery.  Following are the telephone numbers to call for voter registration in the respective counties:

Can I Register To Vote By Mail?

Yes, to obtain a voter registration form call the City of Laurel at (301) 725-5300, extension 121.

Can I Vote In City Elections By Absentee Ballot?

Yes, you can vote by absentee ballot. There are strict regulations governing voting by absentee ballot.

How Do I Obtain An Absentee Ballot?

To obtain an absentee ballot you must make an application. Absentee balloting is governed by strict regulations and Maryland State Laws. To apply for an absentee ballot call the Clerk's Office at (301) 725-5300, extension 120.

Where Are The Polling Places In The City?

The City of Laurel General Elections are held at the Phelps Senior Citizens Center, at 701 Montgomery Street, Laurel, MD, from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
