2008 Milestones
Addition of Police Officers Positions Approved - With the support of Mayor Moe, and the approval of the City Council, the Department saw its ranks increase. The increase brought the total number of sworn officers to 64.
Implementation of the Tag Reader Program - Several patrol vehicles were equipped with the License Plate Reader System which can read license plates of parked and moving vehicles. This program is greatly enhancing the Department's ability to locate stolen vehicles and vehicles wanted in connection to criminal activity.
The TouchPrint Live Scan Program Initiated - TouchPrint Live Scan is a fingerprint system capable of capturing and storing demographic information, fingerprints, handprints, photographs and signatures and the transmitting and/or printing of the records.
Use of an Accident Reconstruction Computer Diagramming Program - The computer program is a state of the art diagramming program designed to assist in the reconstruction of serious and fatal motor vehicle collisions.
Development of a Traffic Enforcement Unit - Traffic Enforcement Unit is primarily tasked with the enforcement of motor vehicle laws. The Unit was started to increase traffic enforcement in the residential communities within the City, and raise awareness for vehicular and pedestrian safety.
Authorization of a Special Crimes Unit - The unit is dedicated to the enforcement of vice and narcotic laws within the City.
